Crown Thinning and Reduction From a Linlithgow-Based Firm Serving West Lothian and Central Scotland

Yellow Trees

Working with local authorities, businesses and private clients throughout Central Scotland to manage tree growth and ensure the most effective and least disruptive methods of tree care are utilised.

The crown is the uppermost part of the tree and thus the section that is likely to become the most problematic as the tree continues to grow. Overhead power lines and utility lines can become compromised, neighbours’ views could become blocked and their gardens cast into perpetual shadow, whilst heavy limbs risk breaking off and causing damage or injury.

It may also be a simple case of the tree's appearance not suiting the particular environment in which it is situated - something that could be a real issue in parks, commercial areas or estate gardens where aesthetics are everything. In such instances, we will work within your parameters to ensure that the result aligns with your vision of how your environment should look.

Yellow Trees

Crown reduction is one method of resolving the issue of a tree that has begun to outgrow or dominate its location. We will carefully reduce the height and spread of the tree by pruning its branches to acceptable growth points, retaining the same, basic framework of the tree but whittling it down to a safer, more appealing and less obstructive size.

Crown Thinning

Thinning reduces the density of the tree by pruning the secondary branches – the overall size of the tree will not be altered, but its density will be vastly reduced and evened out.

Crown thinning will help to protect the tree from the impact of the wind, which will be able to circulate more freely around the crown, giving it extra resilience against inclement weather.

The process will also allow more light to pass through the tree's branches, which makes it a convenient way to resolve the issue of sunlight (and hence warmth) being blocked from a front or back garden, or any other space.

Dead Wooding and Limbing:

Yellow Trees

Tree branches can pose an obvious hazard to vehicles and pedestrians, especially when the limbs are dying and are thus more prone to breakage. We will safely remove any diseased, dead, overgrown, rotten or obstructive branches.

This process actually benefits the tree, as removing any rotten branches reduces the possibility of the tree becoming overrun by an insect or pest infestation.
